I Bought a New Bicycle!
Yeah, I know. Nobody cares even if I bought a new bike or not. I just love biking that’s why I bought a new bike. After Biking from Grand Aventon to Sirge Luis I came to think about when did Biking started? Who invited the Bicycle? Why the bike exists? Why people loves to Bike? In short, I’m looking for answers about the history of a bicycle.
While googling and searching for facts about bicycles, I found out that bicycles were introduced in the 19th century and now number about one billion worldwide. They are the principal means of transportation in many regions, specially here in Turks and Caicus Islands. They also provide a popular form of recreation, and have been adapted for such uses as children’s toys, adult fitness, military and police applications, courier services, and competitive sports. Now that’s an awesome fact about bicycles.
Based on what I’ve read, Karl Dais invented the first bicycle. But, it wasn’t called a bicycle. It was called a velocipede, two-wheeler – without pedals! Now did you wonder how did he drive a velocipede without pedals? That’s what I wondered also. I think he just pushes it then rides to it like a scooter! Haha!
After tirelessly researching about that velocipede, I found out that its rider sat astride a wooden frame supported by two in-line wheels and pushed the vehicle along with his/her feet while steering the front wheel. Now that’s like a scooter isn’t it? Basically it is and scooters are also within the family of bicycles, just like motorcycles.
Oh my, so much for this. I’m talking about bicycles and I know no one gets interested with this sort of topic. I’ll be going now and bike my way back to the market to buy some stuff for Mom.
